Lake Sevan - 2010 “Lake Sevan - 2010” international chess tournament, which was held from July 10 to 20 in a small town of Martuni, was over. The winner of the tournament was GM Arman Pashikian, who is a three-time winner of “Lake Sevan”. GM Tigran Petrosian gained the second place and the world youth champion Maksim Matlakov took the third place. For details please go to the official site .

Pan-Armenian Chess Olympiad The Chess Academy of Armenia in cooperation with the Ministry of Diaspora of RA is organizing the first Pan-Armenian Chess Olympiad during 14 to 23 August, 2010. The Armenian chess-players, less than 35 years old, can take part in the Chess Olympiad. The Olympiad will be run by the individual/team system (This means that the players compete for individual place and for team place). The team consists of four chess-players (one of them is a girl). 10 teams will be formed by the following principle: 1team from: Southern America, Northern America, Europe, CIS, The Middle East, Yerevan, Armenia, NKR (Nagorno Karabakh); 2 teams from: Russia. An International Open Chess Festival, which consists of A and B tournaments /regulation /, will be organized simultaneously with the Pan-Armenian Olympiad.

The final results of the Chess Composition Competition in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Genrikh Kasparian Recently, in Armenia, a chess composition competition was held in honor of the great Armenian chess study composer of the 20th century, Genrikh Kasparian. In total, the organizing committee received 53 submissions from 20 countries: Armenia, Austria, Bulgarian, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, USA, Ukraine, and Wales /in details /.
