European Universities Chess Championship has concluded

On September 20, the closing ceremony of the 2025 European Universities Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship was held at the Armenian State University of Economics.

The team of the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport became the winner in the Open Rapid, Women's Rapid and Open Blitz tournaments. The Open team included GM Shant Sargsyan and GM Mamikon Gharibyan, while the Women's team featured WFM Mariam Avetisyan and Mariam Khachatryan. The team captain was International Arbiter and Associate Professor Yervand Hakobyan.

In the Women's Blitz tournament, the champion title went to the team of the American University of Armenia. The team included WCM Veronika Khachatryan and Milena Gasparyan, and the team captain was Hasmik Marukyan.

The medals and awards were presented by Hovhannes Gabrielyan, the President of Armenian Student Sports Federation, Armen Grigoryan, the Rector of Armenian State University of Economics and EUC Chess 2025 OC President, Oleksander Sulipa, the EUSA Chess Technical Delegate, and Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General.

3rd place – Yerevan State University

Women's Rapid
1st place – Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport
2nd place – Hungarian University of Sports Sciences
3rd place – American University of Armenia

Open Blitz
1st place – Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport
2nd place – Bucharest University of Economic Studies
3rd place – Ozyegin University

Women's Blitz
1st place – American University of Armenia
2nd place – University of Warsaw
3rd place – Hungarian University of Sports Sciences
