The Rapid Chess Championship was held in Kornidzor
The Syunik Chess Federation continues to actively support and coordinate initiatives to develop chess across the region.
From December 19 to 21, the "Kornidzor 2025" Rapid Chess Championship was held at Kornidzor School under the auspices of the Armenian Chess Federation. The tournament was organized in cooperation with the Syunik Chess Federation, the "Kornidzor" Foundation, and the local municipal administration.
This tournament is unique as a rural community event in Armenia and serves as an excellent example of how chess can bring people together, gathering participants of different ages and genders in one place.
The 9-round tournament was highly competitive. The last day, in particular, was held in a "swing" system, where luck could change with each step. As a result, the winners were determined by tie-breaks, as the leaders had scored an equal 7.5 points.
