Javokhir Sindarov is the winner of the Candidates Tournament

20-year-old Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindarov has secured the title of the Candidates Tournament winner with one round to spare.

Sindarov scored 9.5 points out of 13, taking a two-point lead over second-placed Anish Giri.

This result gives Sindarov the right to compete for the World Championship title against reigning champion Gukesh Dommaraju later this year.
